Artists at the American Lithographic Company used real photographs to create the six color lithograph images used for the T206 set. The real photographs and rights to reproduce them were obtained from photographers all over the country. These photographers included Carl Horner of Boston, Mass., well known for his studio portraits of professional players. Many of Horner's photographs, like the Frank Bowerman on the left, were used for the T206 set as well as other baseball card sets of the time.

Images for subjects like those representing the southern leagues were obtained from local photographers. The Dutch Revelle photograph, right, was taken by Richmond, Va., studio photographer Walter W. Washington.
